About Us

Established by Xuchang University in 2006, School of International Education is a new-type school committed to sino-foreign cooperative education. In order to adapt to the trend of economic globalization and internationalization of education, our school endeavors to introduce the  high-quality foreign educational resources and philosophies on the basis of the advanced facilities. We seek for cooperation with excellent foreign universities in undergraduate programs so as to cultivate the specialized talents who are highly qualified, internationalized and inter-disciplinary. The school enrollment system, managed by Xuchang University, runs on the basis of the state’s official enrollment plan. So far, there are in total 12 undergraduate programs, including 6 Sino-US programs (Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation, Civil Engineering, Business Administration-Accounting, Visual Communication Design, Dancology and Pre-School Education), 3 Sino-Russian programs (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Computer Science and Technology), 1 Sino-Canadian program (Human Resource Management) and 1 Sino-UK program (Literature of Drama, Film & Television). Apart from the undergraduate programs, there are also 4 specialized programs, including Marketing Management (Sino-Canada), Art and Design (Sino-US), Musical Education (Sino-US), Nursing Science (Sino-UK). As for the faculties, we have in total 348 faculties, and 223 of them are titled above assistant professor. With more than a decade of successful school-running experience, the number of students in our college now has reached 4250.

Over the past decade, we insisted on following the educational ideology that “to combine the Chinese and western patterns, deem education as fundamental, standardize the school management system, guarantee the quality of teaching”, which aims to pursue the application of the high-quality international resources and adopt the advanced educational ideology from abroad. For the purpose of establishing an advanced international school, we have developed the long-term cooperation with many famous universities in Canada, US, Russia, UK and India, trying to introduce the advanced international resources and philosophies to our school-running system in order to highlight our advantages in international education. Now, we take the lead in the school scale and the speed of development in Henan Province, and is deemed as the model among the neighboring universities in the field of Sino-Foreign cooperation programs. Since 2006, more than 5000 outstanding students have graduated from our school, and among all the students, the percentage of those who pass the postgraduate entrance examination or apply for the foreign programs has been constantly increasing. So far, more than 100 students apply for the study-abroad programs or join the summer camps to the countries and regions such as UK, US, Russia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and Hong Kong. The ability of the students keeps improving. For instance, our students have made outstanding achievements in the matches and competitions of any class and any type. Only in 2009, the students of our school won more than 10 high-ranking prizes in the provincial and national competitions such as the 10^th National University Marketing Competition, the 6^th National University Students’ Comprehensive Ability Competition in Engineering Training, National University Comprehensive Practice Competition in Economics and the 1^st Beverage Innovation Competition for University Students. Besides, our students also won more than 50 group rewards. In addition, 21 students were admitted to postgraduate studies or decided to study abroad. As for employment, the comprehensive abilities of the graduates have been praised by the domestic and foreign employers, and the overall employment rate stays above 92%, the degree of satisfaction from the employers stays above 80%. The school is highly praised by the public for our standard school-running modes, flexible teaching methods, scientific curriculum design, precise teaching plan, international faculties and strict teaching management. In recent years, the number of the students applying for our college has been far beyond the enrollment plan, which leads to the rising admission standards and the expanding social influence, and makes great contribution to our University in the process of achieving the objective of international education.

We have a group of teachers with reasonable academic title structure, and strong ability of teaching and scientific research. The teachers of the current 15 majors are from various departments of Xuchang University and 223 of them are with senior titles or doctorates. We have 44 full-time teachers and management staff, including 2 doctors (1 foreign doctor), 16 "bilingual" teachers and 7 “double-position” teachers. Most teachers have overseas study and work experiences. We also have 7 long-term employment foreign teachers, and foreign schools send 30 professional extracurricular teachers each year. Through the cooperative school platform, we have developed 25 bilingual courses, online courses and other special courses with foreign cooperation. We are focusing on the professionalism of teachers while constantly strengthening the construction of teachers at the same time. In recent years, 4 teachers have been awarded the school's "top ten model teachers ". 8 teachers have been awarded the school’s "advanced teachers" honorary title. More than 95% of teachers have been awarded the school’s "excellent teachers" honorary title.

We have a united, cooperative leadership team with fine conduct, together with a responsible student management team. Our party building and ideological and political work stand out, the oral defense system of students party members being " the Party Building Innovation Project of Henan Province University Grassroots ", which has won "National University Vitality League Branch," "Henan Province Advanced Grassroots Party Organization," "Henan Province May 4^th Red Flag League General Branch", school’s "Advanced Unit of Student Work", "Advanced Collective of Learning from Lei Feng" and other honorary titles.

The new era has brought new opportunities for the development of international education, and in this promising period of important strategic opportunities, the School of International Education adheres to Xi Jinping's New Era of Socialist Ideology with Chinese Characteristics as a guide, adhering to the purpose of "promoting quality and efficiency, serving the overall situation, enhancing capacity", and strive to create conditions, strive for support, and unswervingly promote the intension-based development of the school. On the basis of the relatively stable scale of enrollment, deepen cooperation with foreign universities in curriculum teaching, academic exchanges, teacher training, etc., and continuously improve the level of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, according to the needs of economic and social development of human resources, further improve the quality of international talent training, and truly make the school an important window for Xuchang University to open up to the outside world.

In response to the working requirements of the national "Belt and Road" policy and "Studying in the Central Plains" of Henan Provincial Education Department, combined with the "internationalization" school positioning of our school, we recruit international students since 2017. So far, we have 75 short-term and long-term students from Tajikistan, Tanzania, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Congo, Russia, Uzbekistan and other “Belt and Road” countries.
